Recently,at the inauguration ceremony of the international cargo terminal in the eastern area of Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, the first“multi-level structure+intelligent”international air cargo station in China officially commenced operations,as Hangzhou Customs issues the“Customs Supervised Workplace Registration Certificate”to Zhejiang Airport Logistics Development Co.,Ltd.This signifies that the basic infrastructure of Hangzhou’s aviation port has achieved“enhanced efficiency and upgrading”.Hangzhou Airport has pressed the“acceleration button”for the simultaneous development of passenger and cargo transportation, thereby significantly enhancing its international cargo handling capabilities.

According to the responsible person from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, “the newly built East International Cargo Terminal has a building area nearly five times larger than the old cargo terminal, reaching 156,700 square meters. It has an annual cargo throughput capacity of 600,000 tons, providing high-quality support for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games and effectively promoting the upgrade of the province's international air cargo infrastructure.”

The East International Cargo Terminal at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is a key project in Zhejiang Province and also a project to support the Asian Games. It is designed with a three-level structure, including a public cargo terminal,an express/cross-border center, and an agent area.It is mainly responsible for handling international general cargo, express shipments,cross-border e-commerce items, mail,as well as special cargo such as refrigerated and frozen perishables, valuable goods, and animals. In other words,in the future, international goods purchased by people in Hangzhou, such as cosmetics and handbags, will need to go through this terminal to enter Hangzhou.

In addition to the main body of the cargo station, there are also other facilities such as the car platform, comprehensive business building, customs inspection center, special storage warehouse, customs checkpoint, and airside management facilities. The project has also invested in intelligent equipment such as ULD lifting machines, pallet lifting machines,AGV unmanned forklifts,ETV automated storage and retrieval systems, customs inspection sorting lines, and security operation return lines.

Air logistics is crucial to the development of cross-border e-commerce in Hangzhou and is also a necessary requirement for improving airport services and creating a digital logistics hub since the expansion of the Hangzhou area of the Zhejiang Free Trade Zone.Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport has now become the second largest aviation hub in the eastern region, second only to Pudong Airport. The completion and operation of this project will provide reliable support for the development of civil aviation in the province and the“Zhejiang Goods,Zhejiang Delivery”initiative.
